Chinese New Year 2020

In Year 3, we celebrated the Chinese New Year.

We learned lots of interesting facts about how the Chinese New Year is celebrated in China and the different traditions surrounding this. We were also very lucky to have one of our parents come in to school to cook vegetable spring rolls with us and provide the whole school with prawn crackers and fortune cookies!

After lunch, we came back into class and spent the afternoon doing crafts. We made a Chinese lantern, a dragon mask and drew our own variations of a Chinese dragon.

It was lots of fun!

Astrid the Viking Visits Year 3!

During the Autumn term, Year 3 had a very important visitor from the past. Astrid the Viking arrived at school to talk to us about all things Viking! She showed us lots of Viking artefacts, ranging from brooches to ice-skates! We also played a really fun game on a Tafi board. Astrid took us all into a classroom and showed us some Viking runes. We then used a Mammoth’s tusk to mark the runes into leather and turned them into keyrings.

To finish the day, we went back to into the hall and looked at lots of Viking weapons and armour. We had a lot of fun with Astrid, as you will see from our photographs!
