Over two days in October, Richard O’Neill, a Gypsy Roma traveller and children’s author, came into school to work with the children on oracy and dialect. A number of parents forwarded their Yorkshire dialects to us and Richard shared these with the children to show how our language has changed throughout the years. Following this, he read his new book, ‘The Lost Homework’, to the children across school. The children really loved hearing the story and using the puppet to act it out. At the end of the sessions, Richard signed and donated eight books to school.
The staff and children always look forward to and enjoy Richard’s visits into school and we cannot wait until the next one!
Thank you Richard.
