As we prepare to re open School, Governors would like to welcome back those pupils returning after the summer holidays- we hope you had a lovely break and that you are ready to get back to your learning.

Also we extend a warm welcome to our new pupils and to their parents/carers. We hope that children  will enjoy everything that Middleton Primary is able to offer and if parents/carers  do have any problems, we urge you to contact the School Office for assistance.

Year 6 “End of Year” song

I was fortunate enough to be in school this week when our Year 6 pupils were trying out, for the first time, their end of year song. They were supported by the brilliant Danny Gough, who has produced so  many other terrific end of year shows for us.

Well, if this was just the first run through,  I can’t wait to hear the final version! Well done to Year 6 pupils, Danny Gough and to Mrs Tissiman and the other staff for all that you are doing for our children.

Fantastic Easter Bonnets

I’ve been in school today and was able to see all the amazing Easter Bonnets that the children have brought in for the Bonnets competition. I must say that I’ m relieved on this occasion not be involved in the judging because it’s going to be a very difficult task indeed.

A big well done to everyone – the winners – and also those who don’t win – should be very proud of their efforts – the Easter Bonnets are absolutely brilliant !!

World Book Day Celebration

Today I have had the pleasure of being part of the judging panel for the costumes celebrating World Book Day – a little bit after the actual day but it still didn’t stop our children coming to school in a whole range of amazing outfits ! Judging wasn’t easy, because there were so many great ideas and costumes, but we did manged to choose some winners, who were rewarded with a book of their choice from a great range of books provided by school.

Thanks then to all of the parents/carers who got involved in helping to make the outfits and thanks to all of the children who took part – you were all just great !!. Thanks also to all of  our staff who really got involved and indeed got dressed up as well – you were brilliant ! Must not forget also to thank Mrs Latham for organising the event and Mrs Bullock for helping with the judging, plus my wife for joining in the judging – you were all great as well !

Thankyou from School Governors

On behalf of School Governors I have some massive thankyous –  firstly to William Cook Rail for enabling us to obtain £100 to update our Year 6 book corner and secondly of course to our Year 6 children for engaging so well in their use of Doodle Apps, which won us the donation !

Another massive thankyou is to Lee Mortimer for his wonderful donation of £750 in memory of his late parents Dan and Anne, which will enable us to buy books for our school library. I understand that Anne became a volunteer reader in 2011 and as a fellow volunteer reader, I am so delighted to hear of this donation – thankyou so much Lee.

1st Day Back !

I was very concerned to learn that some adverse comments have been made by a small number of parents/carers about the arrangements which were in place for the 1st day back at school, for children arriving and leaving.

It’s very much a learning curve for everyone and there are bound to be teething problems, so I am pleased to see that school have listened and taken note, with some small changes being made from tomorrow onwards, which hopefully will mean that things will go a lot smoother.

As always though, we do very much need parents/carers to work with us to get it right, by observing the rules around social distancing both within and outside of school grounds.

Thanks of course to those parents/ carers who are sticking to the rules – I know that your support is very much appreciated by Ms Williams and all of our staff.

Welcome back !!

I’m delighted that school will reopen tomorrow,7 September and want to welcome back all our returning pupils and to welcome our new pupils. Also of course a welcome back to our fantastic staff team.

Of course things are going to look and feel very different because of all of the precautions that have to be taken to keep everyone safe in these difficult times. I’m sure though that  all of our staff will be doing everything that they can to help the children to settle back in to school after such a long time away and thanks to them in advance.

Also a big thank you in advance to parents and carers for helping by observing the new rules for the return to school – I know things will be a little bit difficult at first but hopefully everyone will settle in to the new routines, which will make things so much easier and we can get on with delivering to our pupils  the very best education that we can.

Phased return to school from 17 June

Just a short note to thank our fantastic staff here at Middleton Primary for pulling all the stops out to prepare our school for the phased return of our children from this coming Wednesday 17 June. I know that they have done an enormous amount of work to make everything as safe as it possibly can be for everyone.

Thanks also in advance to parents/ carers and children for your help in working with teachers and indeed all of the staff, in remembering about social distancing and in trying to get back to some kind of normality during the remaining weeks of the summer term – I know things will look and feel very different for everyone, but let’s give it our best shot !

Gymnastics success for our all female team !

Just heard that we achieved great success yesterday at the Gymnastics Key Steps Competition held at the John Charles Sports Centre.

Four of our year 5/6 girls competed in 3 events : Body Management,Floor and Vault and we were rewarded with  silver medals for performance on Floor and Body Management, with a bronze medal for Vault. To top off this fabulous performance, we were also awarded a bronze medal for our overall mark as a team effort, so all four children left with a medal !! Huge congratulations to our Team – you did our School proud.

Thanks also to Miss Garnett for all of her hard work in helping to get the Team to this level – great job !
